Letter from National Correspondents on the future funding of DCF tasks (MFF 2028–2034)

The National Correspondents (NCs) for the Data Collection Framework (DCF) have prepared a letter addressing the future funding of fisheries data collection in the context of the upcoming Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2028–2034.

The letter highlights the importance of maintaining stable and ring-fenced funding for fisheries and aquaculture data collection activities. Such funding is considered essential to ensure the continuity of long-term datasets, support regional coordination through the Regional Coordination Groups (RCGs), and safeguard the scientific basis required for the implementation of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP).

In particular, the NCs underline that predictable and dedicated financial support is crucial for maintaining surveys, sampling activities and regional cooperation mechanisms that underpin scientific advice and evidence-based fisheries management.

The letter has been shared with relevant stakeholders and is made available here for transparency and reference.
